Today we decided to take a spontaneous trip to the St. Louis Zoo. Here are some pics of the animals, and some of the creatures at the zoo too! ;)

We didn't tell the kids where we were going. They were excited about the surprise.

Steven looks confused. I snapped this pic right after calling his name.

The fist animal we saw up close was an orangutan. He was hiding under a blanket and eating some leaves. He liked to play peek-a-boo with the kids in the window.

Hannah makes friends with a chimpanzee.

The penguins were my favorite part of the trip. These guys were swimming in the outdoor part of their habitat.

The kids with some Emperor penguins. It was freezing in this room.

The penguins will swim right up to the edge of the pool to check the people out.

This guy was all by himself, puffing his chest out for the crowd.

Some puffins.

The Grizzly bear came out for a drink.

Then layed down for a nap in the pool!

A neat elephant fountain.

A very large beetle.

We even got to see a Capybara, the largest rodent in the world!

Hannah gets up close with a Hippo.

They were swimming back and forth doing rolls in the water.

A Hyena on the prowl.

A cheetah resting in the shade.

Raja the elephant was out greeting guests. The rest of the elephants were not on display.

And a stop for some ice cream before heading to the car. It was a fun day, definitely better than sitting around the house!!!
