It's Race Time!

Today was the big day- Steven's first pack meeting, and the Rain Gutter Regatta. Here are the shots from the exciting event:
Steven's Den pose in front of the gutter they decorated at the last Den meeting. The boys become Weeblos next month, so we are waiting to get his uniform until then. (The Cub Scout and Weeblo uniforms are completely different.)
Steven's Den got to do the opening ceremony this month. Each boy read a report on a famous explorer. Here is Steven presenting his information on Robert Peary, the first man to reach the South Pole. Most of the kids dressed up like the explorer they were talking about, but as the temp outside today approached 80, Steven declined to wear the thermal insulated fur-lined parka we had.
Here Steven is awarded his Bobcat badge. He had a little over a week to get the things done the other boys worked on all year. But he was awesome and now he gets to be a Weeblo!
A close up of Steven's Bobcat badge. The little pin is for me to wear. Steven has to wear the badge upside down until he does something nice for me, then he get to turn it over. Personally I think this is one of the most bestest traditions EVAR! ;)
Steven waits for the countdown to start blowing on his boat's sail. He got more good comments on his boat than any of the other kids there. I even met up with one of the other Dads that was stationed in Galveston while I was there. Small world!

He does it! At the last second he pulls into the lead and clinches the victory!!! Good work and smooth sailing Steven!
